Benjamin makes his debut conducting Concerto Copenhagen and the Royal Danish Opera in a new production of Mozart’s Don Giovanni.
Australia’s new period instrument orchestra, orchestra seventeen88, launches in Sydney on Saturday 21st December. It is the first orchestra of its kind in Australia, exploring and presenting music from the Classical and Romantic periods with Historically Informed Performance practice. The first concert is conducted by Ben and will feature music by Mozart, Haydn, Schubert and Mendelssohn.
Benjamin will be making his debuts in Italy (Orchestra dell’Ente Concerti in Sassari) and Wroclaw (Leopoldinum Chamber Orchestra) in the next two weeks, conducting varied programmes including music by Poulenc, Berlioz, Finzi, Panufnik and Richard Strauss.
Ben has just returned from a very successful new production of La Clemenza di Tito with the Taipei Symphony Orchestra. In partnership with the director Justin Way, plus a fantastic cast, this was the first time Mozart’s opera has been fully staged in Taiwan.
On Friday 19th July Ben will make his debut with Collegium Vocale Gent, conducting 3 Bach Cantatas in the Festival de Saintes.
